Dutch Dishes

Both sides of my family come from the Province of Groningen in the Netherlands. Both of my parents grew up eating Dutch dishes and my mother often made them out of nostalgia as well as taste. While Dutch cooking is not as well known as Italian or French cuisine, it has a distinctive flavor influenced by it’s long association with Indonesia (the former colonies of the Dutch East Indies) which were also known as the Spice Islands.
