Alabama White Sauce

Alabama White Sauce

This white BBQ sauce is particularly good on smoked or grilled chicken, but it also works on fish, pork, or as a dip for veggies or chips. If is smooth, tangy, peppery, sharp, and delicious.
Traditionally credited to Bob Gibson of Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q in Decatur AL, who first developed it in 1925. The sauce was almost exclusive to northern Alabama until 1994 when it was first bottled and sold commercially.
You can play some with the ratios, but mayonnaise, lemon juice, horseradish sauce, black pepper and hot pepper are some of the key components.
