Macaroni and Cheese – Simple

Macaroni and Cheese – Simple
The simple ingredients for Mac & Cheese

This is just like the stuff in the blue box, it tastes as good if not better, but it costs a lot less than the blue box because you’re not buying all of that packaging. I like to add things like grilled hot dogs and peas in to mine, and then sprinkle hot sauce over the top. This will make a full meal for 2 people, or a side dish for 4-6 people (unless you have hungry teen age boys!).

Macaroni and Cheese – Easy

Prep Time 10 minutes

Total Time 20 minutes
Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups dry macaroni noodles
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup cheese powder I use Hoosier Hill Farms, but there are many options available
  • Optional additions: cooked sliced hot dogs cooked bacon, frozen peas

Instructions

  • Start 2 quarts of water to boil.
  • If using frozen peas, add these to the water before the macaroni. This is going to cool the water down so let the water come back to a boil before adding the noodles.
  • Boil the noodles for 9 minutes.
  • While the noodles are cooking, melt the butter, and then add the milk, then the cheese powder, and whisk them together.
  • When the noodles are done, drain them and add them pack to the pan.
  • Add the cheese sauce to the cooked noodles.
  • Add sliced hot dogs, bacon bits, peas, etc if you would like
  • This makes 2 servings as an entree, 4-6 servings as a side dish.
