This recipe makes a rich, satisfying meal out of leftovers. You can use leftover hamburgers or meat loaf; or, you could just brown a pound of ground beef ahead of time. You can serve this over potatoes, noodles, rice, toast or biscuits.

Ingredients
- 4 leftover hamburgers, or 1 pound of leftover meat loaf or 1 pound of browned ground beef
- Gravy ingredients:
- 4 Tbsp reserved fat from cooked meat (beef or bacon) or 4 Tbsp butter
- ½ medium sized onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 can of mushrooms, or 1 cup of fresh mushrooms, cut into pieces
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 Tbsp corn starch
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Biscuits, toast, mashed potatoes, cooked rice, or noodles.
Instructions
- Crumble the hamburgers or meat loaf.
- Start your gravy by heating the butter or fat over medium heat in a mid-sized sauce pan or skillet.
- Add the vegetables to the butter and cook until soft or lightly browned.
- Stir the corn starch into the beef broth and then slowly add the broth to the vegetables, stirring continuously to make it smooth.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer until thickened. Add salt and pepper to taste. Then add the crumbled hamburgers.
- Serve over toast, biscuits, mashed potatoes, noodles or rice.
