Okay, this recipe is probably far more American than it is Italian, but it still has real Italian roots. You can make this simply, using store bought marinara and Alfredo sauce, or you can make those from scratch. This will make a delicious and satisfying meal for a crowd.

Ingredients
- 1# ground beef or Italian Sausage
- ½ white onion, chopped
- 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
- 8 oz of fresh mushrooms, sliced, or 2 cans of mushrooms
- Salt & Pepper
- Italian Seasoning
- 1 jar marinara sauce, or make your own marinara
- 1 pound of spaghetti, cooked
- 1 jar Alfredo sauce, or make your own Alfredo
- ½ – 1# shredded mozzarella or provolone
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti in salted water and drain, cover to keep warm.
- Brown the meat and onions together, when done add the garlic and stir until fragrant; drain the grease from the pan. (If making your marinara from scratch, you will add the onions and garlic to that instead).
- Season with 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp pepper, and 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning.
- If you’re using mushrooms, add them now.
- Add the marinara sauce to the meat and stir through
- Put the spaghetti in the bottom of your casserole dish and add the Alfredo sauce, stir through.
- Pour the marinara sauce and meat over the top of the spaghetti, but don’t mix it Through.
- Top with ½ – 1# of shredded or sliced cheese.
- Bake at 350 for 20 minutes, and then broil for 2-3 minutes to brown the cheese.
- Serve with a fresh salad or Italian Tomatoes & Zucchini
