Macaroni and Cheese – Simple
Jump to recipe
This is just like the stuff in the blue box, it tastes as good if not better, but it costs a lot less than the blue box because you’re not buying all of that packaging. I like to add things like grilled hot dogs and peas in to mine, and then sprinkle hot sauce over the top. This will make a full meal for 2 people, or a side dish for 4-6 people (unless you have hungry teen age boys!).

Ingredients
- 1.5 cups dry macaroni noodles
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup cheese powder (I use Hoosier Hill Farms, but there are many options available)
- Optional additions: cooked sliced hot dogs, cooked bacon, frozen peas
Instructions
- Start 2 quarts of water to boil.
- If using frozen peas, add these to the water before the macaroni. This is going to cool the water down so let the water come back to a boil before adding the noodles.
- Boil the noodles for 9 minutes.
- While the noodles are cooking, melt the butter, and then add the milk, then the cheese powder, and whisk them together.
- When the noodles are done, drain them and add them pack to the pan.
- Add the cheese sauce to the cooked noodles.
- Add sliced hot dogs, bacon bits, peas, etc if you would like
- This makes 2 servings as an entree, 4-6 servings as a side dish.
