Browning the seasoned bread crumbs and parmasan in a skillet.
This is a great side dish for Italian meals, especially when fresh green beans are in season. This adds texture and flavor to the green beans so that it compliments your Italian entree. You can make this with fresh, frozen or canned green beans but fresh will taste the best and give you the best texture.
Cook the green beans until just tender by boiling, steaming, or in the microwave – I prefer to steam them.
Heat a large skillet over the stove, and then add the oil and butter.
When the butter is melted, add the garlic, seasonings, bread crumbs and Parmesan. Stir to coat and then sauté slowly over a low flame until the bread crumbs are lightly browned.
Add the tender cooked beans and stir through to coat the beans.
