Ingredients
- 1 pound of good quality ground beef
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg
- ½ tablespoon dried minced onion
- 1 tsp cracked pepper
- ¼ cup oatmeal
- Seasoning of your choice
Instructions
- Mix the Worcestershire sauce with the egg, and then add the onion & pepper; add the oatmeal and mix the ingredients. Allow to sit for 20-30 minutes until the oatmeal absorbs all of the moisture.
- Add the ground beef and mix thoroughly again (hands and fingers work the best). Chill the mixture for at least an hour or more before making the patties.
- Divide the mixture into 3 or 4 and mold each into a ball. Flatten into patties with hands or use a patty maker.
- Place the patties on a plate and set in the freezer for about an hour – this makes the patties easier to handle and allows you to get a good char on the outside of the burger without overcooking the center.
- Apply the seasoning to one side of the burgers.
- Place this side down on the grill. Season the other side when all of the patties are on the grill.
- Grill to at least 150 degrees F interior temp.
