Gravy from Broth
Jump to recipe
If you would like to make a gravy but you haven’t cooked any meat for pan drippings, you can make this gravy out of broth, stock, or bouillon.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup flour
- 2 cups of broth, stock, or bouillon
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1-2 tsp Kitchen Bouquet (enough to get your desired color)
- Optional, for more flavor depth: 1 tsp of vinegar and 1 Tbsp of tomato paste.
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a skillet and then blend in the flour using a whisk. Stir steadily until the roux turns to a peanut butter color.
- Whisk in the broth until smooth and bring to a simmer to thicken.
- Whisk in the remaining ingredients.
- Taste and adjust for salt and pepper.
