This recipe is a tasty way to utilize an affordable cut of meat. You can put this together in the morning and when you get home you can make some rice and have dinner. The ingredient list is long, but a little of this and a little of that and you have a delicious meal.
You can serve this over rice or noodles. Napa cabbage, brussels sprouts, or Stir Fried Bok Choy are all great side dishes that go well with this.

Ingredients
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp Hot Sauce
- 1 Tbsp sake or white wine
- ½ Tbsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp Asian 5 Spice
- ¼ tsp Salt
- ¼ tsp Pepper
- ¼ white onion sliced thin
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound boneless pork ribs or pork shoulder steak
- 2 Tbsp corn starch
- ¼ cup cold water
- ¼ cup chopped fresh chives
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients above the pork.
- Cut the pork up into bite sized pieces.
- Marinate the pork in the sauce overnight.
- Put the pork and the sauce in the crock pot and cook on low for 8 hours
- Remove pork from the sauce, and put the sauce into a small pan on the stove.
- Blend the cold water and corn starch, and add to the sauce. Bring to a boil to thicken.
- Add the thickened sauce back to the meat and serve over cooked rice; top with the chives and sesame seeds.
