This simple condiment makes the best garlic bread. You can also use this as a compound butter to garnish a steak for an extra touch of class and flavor.
Chilled Garlic Butter on top of a New York Strip Steak
Melt the butter in a small sauce pan over low heat.
Add the minced garlic and simmer the garlic in the butter for 10-15 minutes
Wisk in the Italian seasoning, and add the olive oil (adds some Italian flavor and helps to keep the butter more spreadable).
Let it cool slowly on the counter. Stir every 15-20 minutes as it firms up but is still soft to be sure the garlic and seasoning is evenly distributed.
Store in the refrigerator.
To make garlic bread, spread the garlic butter on slices of French bread, Italian bread, or even old hot dog or hamburger buns. Place in a 375 degrees F oven for 10-12 minutes. Or, brown in a skillet on the stove top.
