Buttermilk Waffles

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cup flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups of buttermilk or 2 cups of milk + 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 eggs separated into yolks and whites
  • 1 stick melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Mix the dry ingredients together.
  • Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract to the butter milk and blend well. Add the melted butter and blend well.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet, a half cup at a time and mix together.
  • Beat the egg whites until fluffy and then fold into the batter.
  • Bake in a waffle iron until golden.
  • For variety, you can add fruits such as blueberries, strawberries, or chopped apples to the batter before cooking or over the top after.
  • Serves 4-6 people.
